One could say t...ver maisIvan Jurilj was born in Zagreb, Croatia; in 1976 where he spent most of his life. During his elementary and high school days he trained athletics very passionately. One could say that in his youngest days, sport played one of the key roles in building young Ivan’s personality and character, learning how to stay big both in victory and defeat and never to lose persistence while reaching for the goal; the other key role belonged to the parents, of course. After finishing high school, Ivan continued his education at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Zagreb – the study program of Aeronautical Engineering. He graduated in 2003 and received Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering with great pride and joy. In 2004 Ivan joined the Croatian Air Force and started his professional military carrier as Aircraft Maintenance Officer responsible for Bell-206B3 helicopters and PC-9M turboprop airplanes.
As a person both professionally and privately very passionate about aviation, still during his college days, Ivan started to write articles on the subject of aviation and technology in general. Around 30 of his articles were published in monthly editions of popular encyclopedic magazine Tree of Knowledge. Next to writing in his free time he likes to visit international airshows all around Europe. In the desire to feel the ultimate freedom of flight on his own skin and to merge theory with practical flying, Ivan attended and finished a Paragliding course and became a Paragliding pilot.
As a crown of his writing carrier Ivan considers his book about aviation and airplanes, published and released in the Croatian language in 2013. The next logical step was the translation and publishing of the same book in English. This resulted with two books - one being focused on The Propeller Age, the other being focused on The Jet Age. Both books are trying to turn the reader’s attention toward the most relevant milestones in history of aviation, following at the same time the technical development of airplane and putting in correlation the World’s military and commercial trends with the evolution of both military and commercial airplanes. The aim of the books is to open to the reader the fantastic world of aviation and airplanes, from the earliest days till nowadays.
Ivan lives today in Zapresic, a small town near Zagreb, and has changed his professional career from aviation to pharmaceutical business. He is married to his beloved wife Marina with whom he has daughter Amelia – and they are his ultimate two passions.ver menos
