He married his high school sweetheart and went to college on a sports scolarship in Nebraska. However, he lost his scolarship after one year due to a lack of self-discipline and the marriage failed for basically the same reason. He then joined the Army in 1972 and volunteered for Vietnam. The Army was pulling back from Vietnam so he didn't get to go but he stayed with the Army learning how to deal with success and failure. He met his current wife in Kansas and they were married in 1973 and had three children. By the time he retired in 1992, he was a decorated Command Sergeant Major of an Artillery Battalion. His entire career with the Army he supervised large groups of men in physically demanding tasks. He wanted a radical change, so he set his mind to find a career where he had minimal supervision and was responsible for no one. He chose the transportation industry and after five years he bought his own truck and drove nationwide for several major companies. Tragically, his oldest son died in a car crash in 2004 shortly before he retired a second time. He spent a short time teaching new drivers at a community college at his home town of Killeen, Tx where he was born before he retired completely. All his life, Ken has been a story teller but it has just been recently he has decided to write his stories down. Many of his friends describe him as a hopeless romantic and lives now in Killeen surrounded by his family and six grandkids.ver menos
