It is often said ‘it’s not the destination, but the journey that matters’.
So often we can get lost, focused on the goal, the ‘end game’. However in doing so it can be so easy to lose sight of the bigger picture or more importantly why we chose to do what we do in the first place. Everyone is on a journey. It is truly the one common bond which unites mankind in life and in death. However it is how we chose to live that journey that defines us. Some choose their own moral compass as their guiding path. Some chose faith and a higher order to influence their behaviours and some chose neither. All matters of choice or for that matter choice driven by society, culture or authority.
Whatever the choice and the motivation, the external factors these decisions shape our integrity. They influence our behaviours which in turn affect how we treat others and how they in turn treat us.
I wrote this book with a view to hopefully bringing some introspective thoughts to the characters within it, exploring the decisions they make and the affect they have on the people they love or for that matter hate, around us. It looks into their motivations, their emotional, rational or irrational drivers of thinking which in turn lead to decisions using chemical components in the brain to initiate action and in physical aspects of the brain to store memory and consciousness.
In choosing Nathanial, the main character, a giant of a man it maps out his struggle between satisfying his quest, to achieve his goal, against what he does on that journey. It asks the question of whether Nathanial can stay true to who is or was or to become the man he should be, can be or for that matter should not be. Fictional characters based on a story that mixes science fiction with history, with a good dose of gore, sexual intrigue and humour. Nathanial maybe fiction but he holds many of the fears and certainty we all hold close to ourselves.
So my challenge is to hold a mirror to yourself whilst reading this novel and using the website I invite you to agree or disagree with his actions. My website will hold your comments. Let the public decide what was right or wrong.
This is the first book of a three part trilogy. The Journeyman Sagas. I hope you enjoy the read.
