His first book, “Searching for Normalcy,” tells his life story.Born with cerebral palsy at a time in this country's history when disabled kids did not have a legal right to an education, Steve defied the odds. Mainstreamed throughout school, he continued his education by earning both a bachelor's and a master's degree. He's served in youth ministry and as a pastor prior to forming Golden Clay Ministries, a non-profit organization that has taken him literally around the world.Steve’s cerebral palsy gives him a platform to address issues of God’s sovereignty and grace. Whether he’s addressing a group of former street kids in Kenya, a church in the Midwest, or readers of one of his books, Steve’s message is the same: “Christ came to the cross to forgive my sins, not to take away my problems -- including my cerebral palsy.God’s grace in my life isn’t about helping me overcome my disability; rather, it’s about God walking with me through my life, cerebral palsy and all.” Steve has taken this message at churches, schools, and other venues all over the world and has traveled to 48 states and 12 countries.Steve and his wife, Randi, live in Upland, Indiana, with their daughter, Rachel, and dogs Happy and Rocky. When he’s not writing, Steve enjoys reading, chess, philosophical discussions, and just hanging out with his family.ver menos
