She and her eight siblings lived the carnival life, until they were ordered off the road by the Child Labor law. That’s when Dawn, age nine, moved into her first house.
She cannot remember when she started writing, but she began collaborating with her niece, Jackie Hampton, and they now have twenty-some books on the shelf. All romance, they are into happy endings.
Dawn also writes music and was a cabaret performer for years, until she lost her voice after a thyroid operation in 1964. Now, besides writing, Dawn is a member of the swing dance community. This year, she will be eighty-five years young. Look for her with her family on the award winning DVD, The Unforgettable Hamptons. Dawn’s favorite sayings are, “I am blessed” and “The light is on.”ver menos
