Now based in Cape Town, she is the author of 'Just Add Rice – stories and recipes by a Taiwanese South African', the first East Asian cookbook published in South Africa by someone of the cultural descent, and a national finalist in two categories for the international 2019 Gourmand Awards. Ming-Cheau is also a freelance copywriter and runs a food blog, butterfingers.co.za, as a platform to share insights into Taiwanese culture through recipes and stories. She uses food as a medium to tell stories for social activism – offering presentations on embracing empowerment as an immigrant and woman of colour. In 2018 she was recognised by Johannesburg’s TCAWF (The Chinese Association Women’s Federation) as one of four East Asian women making change in South Africa. She has a BA in creative brand communications, specialising in copywriting, and worked for seven years at well-known creative agencies as a copywriter. She also holds an international City & Guilds diploma in patisserie.ver menos
