Glenda Vogel, called Skip by her friends, lives in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. She has four children; three of them had graduated from high school and two were already in college when she got divorced. It was a difficult time for the family without a father present, but with the Lord’s guidance, they saw that there is life after divorce.
Skip is an RN working mostly in the operating room and emergency room. After the divorce, she worked as an RN, supporting herself and the children. During that time she went to bible school and became a licensed minister of the Gospel.
Rev. Vogel is the founding director of a Single Again (divorce recovery) group, serving for twelve years (two groups with six years in each, training others to replace her as she moved on to other areas).
After this, she went to the foreign mission field in Honduras, Central America, serving there for ten years. She also served for one month’s time in India, Niger, West Africa, and the Philippines; three months in Mexico; and four domestic ministries with the Native Americans. In all of these places, she did medical missionary work and/or taught in the mission’s bible school.
She is retired now from foreign service but continues to counsel those who are newly divorced and visits missions every year for one month.
Her life is proof that there is life after divorce, and it is possible, with God’s help, to become all you desire to be.
