Rogers grew up on a farm in Jeffersonville, Kentucky, and he graduated from Morehead State University before being drafted into the US Army to serve in the Korean War; it was at this time he committed his life to the ministry, and he would go on to later receive his masters degree from Harding University and complete major studies toward the PhD in New Testament and early Christian literature at the University of Chicago. For forty years he served as senior minister for two congregations of the Church of Christ, and he has received numerous public honors for service to his community and state. Oliver is also the author of The Faith of Christ, and he and his wife of sixty-three years, Norma, have four children, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.ver menos
