Over time, however, she became dissatisfied with much of what she heard from the pulpit and set out to understand why the God she knew, one of love and compassion, did not seem to be the same God about which most churches seemed to be preaching. Ms. Immel earned a Bachelors degree in Theology, but also went on to complete a Masters in Psychology. The more she studied, the more she realized the difference between religion (what she was hearing in church) and faith (what she felt) was relationship. Learning about how people think and why we behave the way we do helped her to gain a better understanding of relationship. It is the significance of relationship, both with one another and with the divinity, that she hopes to impart in her writing. Though Ms. Immel has been writing since her early teens, The ABCs of Faith is the first book that she has published.ver menos
